BackMaster holds the distinction of being the first commercially available 32-bit Backup Software for OS/2, and was first to offer complete bare-metal restore capability for full disaster recovery. The company's development team had become part of a leading data storage company's software development center in 1996 after IBM exited the OS/2 marketplace.

BackMaster 4.0 for Windows XP and Windows 2000 was developed by this core development team that began initial development work for this latest version of BackMaster In 2005. This original technology team is again part of MSR Development and is continuing the tradition of developing high quality backup software products.

MSR Development Corporation currently offers backup, restore and disaster recovery products for Microsoft Windows 2000 and Windows XP. The company has offices in California and Texas.
